In the galaxy humans call the Milky Way, the solar system containing the Earth and its sun are part of a very minor spiral arm humans call the Orion Arm. The Orion Arm is adjacent to the inner end of another minor but more spectacular spiral arm which humans call the Carina-Sagittarius Arm.
